Children's Celebration of the Word happens at the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses with a regular schedule planned. This Celebration is designed for children who are of pre-school through primary age. This Celebration of the Word is mirroring the Liturgy of the Word being proclaimed in the adult assembly. The language is more age appropriate for young children and the movement and music are utilized to involve our children. We sing the Creed, the Prayers of the Faithful are inclusive of the children's identified prayers, the Gospel Acclamation is sung and gesture is employed. This opportunity to be very inclusive with our little ones is a special Gift to the community. We are always inviting adults who are called to this ministry.
By the time a young person has celebrated his or her First Eucharist, it is time for them to celebrate with the adult assembly. It is not realistic to expect 4th graders and older to be in the same developmental place that pre-schoolers and primary children are. We do request that older children remain in the 'big church' as they can often be distractions for the younger children.
One goal we have is to request and train a group of six adults who would be interested in extending this ministry to our older children. We would Celebrate in a separate space designated for older children.
We meet during the 9am and 11am Masses in Room C
