Adult Faith Enrichment

There are a variety of options for adult learning and faith formation at St. Andrew the Apostle.  Parishioners may find a large variety of books to reflect on and deepen faith in our parish library.  Adults may also join our Wednesday morning scripture study group or join our Why Catholic? program beginning Lent 2009.

A variety of classes are offered on Tuesday evenings throughout the year.  These classes are offered for adults. They will meet the needs of three specific groups:

  • Our Catechists - All those who volunteer to teach our children and teens. Through these courses you can become certified as a teacher of religion by the Diocese.
  • All Those in Ministry at St. Andrew the Apostle - These courses will provide the Faith formation component for your involvement in ministry.
  • All Parishioners of St. Andrew the Apostle - This program offers an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of our Faith, and to recommit ourselves to the journey of discipleship.

Why Catholic?

Why Catholic?

is a unique opportunity for adults to gather,

to learn, to share lives and faith

to connect as families or in ministries

                         to connect with other Catholics

and know Why we are Catholic?

It's not too late to get involved.

Why Catholic? is a an adult formation process that invites individuals, couples and groups of adults to gather once a week during Lent and for six weeks in the fall to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.  It is based on scripture and the US Catholic Catechism for Adults.  It has been used in parishes across the United States and is offered by Renew International.  Find out more about Renew International on-line at www.renewintl.org

Groups meet at the church every evening of the week except Sunday.  Contact Cathy Olds to sign up or for more information at 480-899-1990, ext. 130/ cathy.olds(at)standrew-cfc.org

So you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets.  Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built into a holy dwelling place of God in the Spirit. - Ephesians 2:19-22

A word from Cathy Olds...

Welcome to a new year of our St. Andrew the Apostle Faith Enrichment program. We have some new classes this year to support all our ministries and, hopefully, encourage more reflection on our Catholic faith. During this year of St. Paul, Fr. Vernon Meyer will be returning to St. Andrew to help us explore St. Paul, his culture, ministry and writings.  We are also fortunate to have Kevin Saunders teaching us about the Holy Land in September and Sr. Bridget Chapman teaching classes on Annulments and the history of Christian denominations as well as a class on Islam.

All classes and other adult programs are listed in the new Adult Faith Opportunities brochure available in the church narthex.

We hope that this year's program will continue to provide opportunities for the adults of St. Andrew the Apostle to grow in understanding and knowledge of their faith. Please feel free to contact me with suggestions, ideas and feedback. I would love to hear from you.

Blessings,
Cathy Olds
